Every Final Fantasy Vision Confirmed in FF Resonance So Far
One day after the reveal, we already know that seven legacy Final Fantasy heroes appear in Final Fantasy Resonance as Visions — equippable allies drawn from across the series’ mainline entries. This page is our running list: every confirmed Vision, what we know about their combat role, and how unlocking them works. Bookmark it — we update it with every official reveal.
What is a Vision?
Per the official Steam page, Visions are legacy Final Fantasy characters that party members can equip. In battle, they power Resonance attacks — devastating strikes that can be triggered on staggered enemies, the payoff of Resonance’s stagger system (enemies build stagger faster when you hit their elemental weaknesses). Our combat page breaks down the full turn-based system.
For Brave Exvius veterans this is a familiar word with a new shape: Brave Exvius legacy — in FFBE, summoning heroes from across the Final Fantasy series as “visions” was the game’s core conceit and beloved crossover tradition. Resonance carries the idea forward as an equipment-driven combat mechanic. More on the heritage at our Brave Exvius primer.
The seven confirmed Visions
Confirmed in Square Enix’s announcement materials of June 9, 2026:
| Vision | Original game | Confirmed combat role |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud Strife | Final Fantasy VII | Thunder element + physical attacks (per official materials) |
| Terra | Final Fantasy VI | Not yet detailed |
| Y’shtola | Final Fantasy XIV | Water element + healing (per official materials) |
| Zidane | Final Fantasy IX | Not yet detailed |
| Tidus | Final Fantasy X | Not yet detailed |
| Shantotto | Final Fantasy XI | Not yet detailed |
| Warrior of Light | Final Fantasy I | Not yet detailed |
Where the table says “not yet detailed”, that’s exactly what it means — Square Enix has confirmed the character, not the kit. We will not guess elements or roles, and we’ll fill each cell the moment official information lands.
”One star character per mainline Final Fantasy”
Square Enix’s announcement framing is explicit: each mainline Final Fantasy entry is represented by a star character. Seven are revealed so far — taken literally, that official wording points to more Visions still unannounced, one for every mainline game not yet covered. That’s our reading of the statement, not a confirmed roster size; but it’s the reason this page exists as a running list rather than a one-off article.
How you unlock them: shrines and story quizzes (preview-sourced)
According to IGN’s exclusive hands-on preview (three hours with a pre-release build), Visions are unlocked through shrines featuring story montages and quiz-style questions about their original games — a love letter mechanic if there ever was one. Treat this as preview-build information: it comes from press hands-on time, not from Square Enix’s official materials, and details may change before launch. The same preview estimates the main story at 30–40 hours (60–80 for completionists) — also a preview figure, pending final confirmation.
We’ll keep this list current
Resonance launches October 22, 2026, and reveal season has only just begun — Square Enix’s next stage appearances are prime territory for new Vision announcements. This page gets updated the day each one drops, with its source. Until then:
