The heritage

The Brave Exvius Legacy

Resonance is not built from nothing — it is the rebirth of a story millions of players lost when Final Fantasy Brave Exvius shut down. Here is the heritage, kept deliberately spoiler-light.

2015 — 2024

What Brave Exvius was

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius was Square Enix's flagship mobile RPG: a decade-long story across multiple seasons, classic turn-based combat, and a cast that grew into one of the most beloved in the franchise's mobile history. Its servers closed in October 2024 — taking the entire story with them. There was no way left to play it.

That is what makes Resonance special: launching on October 22, 2026 — eleven years to the month after Brave Exvius first launched in Japan — it brings that lost first saga back as a premium HD-2D adventure, with new story additions.

The first saga

The story Resonance retells

Two young knights of Grandshelt, Rain and Lasswell, leave on a routine patrol and walk into a continental crisis: the elemental Crystals that sustain the world are being corrupted, one by one. Joined by Fina — a girl with no memory of her past — they chase a hooded figure across the realms, and discover that the Crystals' enemy, Veritas of the Dark, guards secrets far older than any kingdom.

The road ahead

The realms of the first arc

Only Grandshelt is confirmed for Resonance so far — the rest is what the original arc visited, and what we expect the HD-2D retelling to cover. Updated as Square Enix reveals more.

The masked knights

The Veritas

Veritas of the Dark does not act alone. In Brave Exvius, he is one of several armored warriors bearing the Veritas name, each tied to an element and to the fate of the Crystals. Who they are — and why they do what they do — is the first arc's beating heart. We will not say more than that.

Allies of legend

Espers

Summons are confirmed for Resonance, and Brave Exvius veterans know them as espers — legendary beings fought, earned and bonded to the party. The original roster included Siren, Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Golem, Odin, Bahamut, Diabolos and many more. Which of them return, and how, is still to be revealed.
